This Privacy Policy explains what personal data the Thermonode application
(eu.thermonode.app, the "App") and the Thermonode service collect, why we
collect it, who it is shared with, and your rights over it. Thermonode is operated by
Daren Decesare ("we", "us"). For any privacy question or
request, contact us at support@thermonode.eu.
Thermonode is a thermal-anomaly monitoring product. The App pairs with a Thermonode monitoring unit and shows you its readings and alerts.
| Data | Why |
|---|---|
| Email address | To create and sign in to your account. Each time you sign in we send a one-time code to this address. |
| Alert phone numbers you enter (up to 2) | So we can send you an SMS and call you when your monitoring unit detects a thermal anomaly. |
| Unit serial number and the name or room you give a unit | To link a monitoring unit to your account and show it in the App and in your alerts. We do not use GPS or the location of your phone. |
| Unit readings and status (temperature, air-quality readings, online status, uptime, the health of the unit such as its fan and Wi-Fi signal, and security events the unit reports) | To show you live status, to deliver alerts and to keep the unit secure and working. |
| Alert history (the SMS and calls we sent, and the in-App messages such as the cleaning reminder) | To show you what happened and to deliver the messages. |
| Push notification token | To deliver alerts to your phone when the App is closed. |
| Your acceptance of the Terms & Disclaimer (date and time, App version, phone model, browser details and the IP address of your phone) | As proof that you accepted the terms. |
| App error reports | When the App hits an error it sends us a short technical report so we can fix it. Your email address is hidden in the report. |
| Help chat (Delina) | The questions you type in the free in-App help chat and a short summary of your unit (never your phone numbers) are sent to our cloud and answered by an AI service (see section 3). We do not save the chat text in our own records. The chat is kept on your phone only, and you can choose to email it to our support. |
| AI Guard Watch (optional paid service) | If you subscribe, every hour, and within minutes of a sudden temperature jump, we send the unit name, its serial number, its latest readings and status and a summary of the last hour to an AI service (see section 3). Never camera pictures, never your email address and never your phone numbers. We keep a short record of each check (the result and its severity, not the full answer) in our cloud logs for about 30 days. If a check raises an alert, the email we send you contains the AI's full answer. |
| Support emails | Emails you send to support@thermonode.eu, so we can answer you. |
Stored only on your phone (never sent to us): your App PIN, the list of past alerts shown in the App, and the help chat text. Clearing the App's data (the in-App "Reset") erases these from your phone.
We never keep camera pictures. The thermal camera produces a coarse heat map only. It cannot show faces, text or normal video. Alarm heat pictures are stored on your unit and on your phone only. When your phone opens one, or shows the live heat view, the picture passes through our cloud but is not saved there.
We never receive your Wi-Fi password. It goes from your phone straight to the unit by Bluetooth and is stored encrypted on the unit.
We do NOT collect: your GPS/precise location, photos, your phone's contacts, or your camera. The App does not ask for your contacts or your camera. On iPhone, the App asks for access to your Photos only when you tap "Save to phone" on an alarm heat picture, so it can save that picture into a Thermonode album. It never sends your photos to us. The App uses the notification permission to show alerts, and the Bluetooth permission to pair your unit and send it your Wi-Fi details. We never use Bluetooth to work out where you are. On Android 11 and older the system itself requires the location permission before an app may scan for Bluetooth devices; the App does not read or store your location.
We use the data above only to: provide the monitoring service, verify your account, deliver alerts (push, SMS and calls), show your devices and their readings, answer your questions, and keep the service secure and working. We do not sell your personal data, and we do not use it for advertising.
We use trusted providers to run the service. They process data only to provide their service to us:
We may also disclose data if required by law.
Our cloud services are hosted in the European Union. Twilio and Anthropic process data in the United States under appropriate safeguards (the EU Standard Contractual Clauses).
You can delete your account and its data yourself on our account deletion page. We delete your personal data within a reasonable period, except where we must keep it to meet a legal obligation.
If you are in the EU/EEA, under the GDPR you have the right to access, correct, delete, or export your personal data, to object to or restrict its processing, and to withdraw consent. To exercise any of these, contact us at support@thermonode.eu. You also have the right to complain to your local data protection authority.
Thermonode is not directed at children and is not intended for use by anyone under 16. We do not knowingly collect data from children.
Access to your account and to commands sent to your monitoring unit is protected by sign-in and server-side authentication. The unit's own storage is encrypted. No system is perfectly secure, but we take reasonable measures to protect your data.
We may update this policy. We will change the "Last updated" date above and, for significant changes, notify you in the App.
